About me

Rosa Pozuelo

I'm an official tour guide and art historian, with advanced training in drama.

I design and lead tours that combine historical rigour, an art historian's eye and engaging storytelling to explore how history has shaped each place. My work begins with a particular curiosity: uncovering what defines a city and finding the clearest way to share it. Throughout my career, I have brought art and history to many different audiences, seeking to spark curiosity and encourage a deeper understanding of heritage.

I build each tour around a narrative, connecting places to their wider context and focusing on the details that help make sense of them. Every group has its own pace. Listening, talking and making room for questions are all part of how I work.

I have built my career in culture and education as a cultural and heritage guide, Art History teacher and cultural mediator, working at venues such as the Palacio de Cibeles and Matadero Madrid, and as an official guide for World Press Photo 2023. My experience includes guided tours and cultural activities in Madrid, Stockholm and Cadiz for press groups, schools, organisations, and visitors from Spain and abroad.

In Cadiz, I have led tours spanning the city's Phoenician origins and Roman Gades, its commercial heyday in the eighteenth century, and the Cadiz of the 1812 Constitution. I have also explored the Andalusi period and more focused subjects, such as the Santa María neighbourhood. This range of approaches reflects one of the things I enjoy most about my work: researching new subjects and designing tours of my own, tailored to each group's interests.

Four principles shape every itinerary, from archival research to the experience of walking through the streets.

  1. 01

    Historical rigour

Every tour begins with careful research. I cross-check information, review my sources and distinguish between documented facts, interpretations and traditional accounts. This allows me to tell the story clearly without losing the nuances that help us understand it.

  2. 02

    A personal perspective

My training as an art historian helps me read architecture, images and spaces in relation to their context. From there, I build a distinct narrative thread for each tour, giving it its own character without compromising historical rigour.

  3. 03

    Engaging storytelling

My experience as a teacher and my studies in drama help me organise information, give the story a clear rhythm and adapt my language to each group. I want history to be easy to follow without flattening its complexity, and for questions and conversation to feel like a natural part of the tour.

  4. 04

    Responsible tourism

I see tourism as a way to discover and enjoy the city, but also as a responsibility towards the place we live in. That is why I work with small groups, avoid using sound amplification at high volume and remain mindful of the space we occupy.

Miradas Encendidas comes from a simple idea: learning about a place's history can change the way we see it. When we look with knowledge and passion, buildings, streets and works of art stop being mere backdrops and begin to reveal the stories they hold.
